When action hero Frank Paine left Hollywood to join the FBI, he hoped to redeem his sordid past, but an anonymous tipster threatens to disclose Frank's sadomasochistic misadventures unless he can find the suspect in his first case, a reclusive biochemist rumored to harbor a cure for cancer at her secret haven. As the terminally ill patient guiding Frank becomes increasingly desperate, he--or she--escalates from blackmail to kidnapping and murder. 

While Frank struggles to protect his secrets and the lives of those closest to him, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter, Roger Martin, investigates the disappearances of wealthy senior citizens across the country. Their paths converge at the biochemist's facility outside Atlanta, where she manufactures a drug of a different ilk. Conflicting issues of life, death, law, religion, morality and love are resolved in an explosive finale.
